  • It’s that time of the year again.

As I sit here in front of my computer, fresh out of the shower, clean shaven, smelling like Team Force, and I’ve just finished packing my bag. I realize it’s that time of the year again. The end of the year. Where you sit down, spend some time reflecting on the past year and think about what you’re going to do for the next one. The last time I did this was approximately 6 months ago. Where I said it was time for a new season in my life. And looks like I did.

First off I’d like to apologize for the lack of blog posts. When your current job requires you to write 30 blog posts a day, I’m sure you can understand what I mean when I tell you after I’m done with my daily quota, the last thing I wanna do is sit down in front of the computer and write another post. Especially when you finish at 10am in the morning. Yeah, I know, my work starts at 5pm and is supposed to end at 2am, but I’ve been struggling to hit the quota on time so I have spend a lot of time catching up. It’s been affecting me, but I’ve been dealing with it and I’m doing my best to improve. The day where I end on the dot will come soon. Next step would be finishing before 8 hours. But let’s take it a step at a time, baby steps.

Other than my job, and the fact that I resumed playing WoW (yes, goddamn it is fun), and I still gig occasionally. Throughout the whole year, I’ve managed to play a show at least once a month, sometimes even two or three! This month alone I’ve got two- one just passed last week, and I got one more on the 26th, which I will announce next week. I’ve got the band together, and we’re working on our third song. Being in a band is great, I love it. I love you guys. Jason, Andrew, Syefri, and yes you too Alvin. I know we haven’t done much, but I have a good feeling about The Wishing, let’s make it happen 😀

Oh I’ve been too busy with my job to catch up on my movie reviews, and since all the movies are already out, I’ll just give quick summaries of the movies I’ve seen lately:
Skyline – 6/10 – Not terrible, but not very good either. Feels like it could lead up to a video game at the end.
The Social Network – 7/10 – I kinda expected more after all the hype it got and it was a David Fincher movie (Fight Club, Se7en, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), but at the same time I didn’t know what to expect since I know nothing about Mark Zuckerberg’s life. Nevertheless it is entertaining, and you discover how Facebook was invented
Due Date – 9/10 – Seriously, if this movie doesn’t tickle your funny bone, you’re either paralyzed and unable to laugh or you’re dead/in a coma. This movie is fucking side-splitting. I guarantee it. One of the best movies I’ve seen all year.
Rapunzel – 9/10 – I don’t know about you guys, but I think Disney hit the nail on the head with this one. It looks like they haven’t lost their magic, and to me, they’ve managed to recreate the classic 2D animation in 3D. The story, the gags, the characters, oh the characters– Rapunzel is a goddess. I fell in love with her the moment she appeared on screen (not as a baby, haha gotcha) and the way she acted– alright I’ll stop here, go watch it for yourself. Again, one of the best movies I’ve seen all year.
Narnia – 5/10 – Meh. Better than the first one in my opinion, I didn’t watch the second one.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World – 6/10 – I didn’t catch this in the cinema (they didn’t show it here) but boy I was let down. After hearing a couple of my friends rave about how much better it was than Inception, I finally sat down to give it a shot. Nope. Nowhere close. I’m a fan of cartoony live-action movies, but Scott Pilgrim was just cheese to the max. Knives is cute as hell though. I think she’s gonna grow up beautifully.

And there must have been one more movie that I missed, but I’ll put it down when I remember. Oh and I still haven’t seen Harry Potter. I should catch it before they take it off the big screens. And my favorite movie this year: Inception – hands down. No other movie even comes close to touching it. Best movie in the world. Ever. I shall quote Ferhan on this, “Inception is better than real life.” Runner ups: Due Date, Rapunzel, The Other Guys.

In terms of music, album of the year so far: Kids In Glass Houses – Dirt. Every song is fantastic, this album is amazing. I can listen to it from start to finish nonstop, throughout the whole day. KIGH really outdone themselves with their latest release. I wonder how they’re gonna release a follow up to such a masterpiece. Worst news of the year – My Favorite Highway breaking up. They’re playing their final show this month, and it’s really sad to see them go. I wish I could’ve seen them live. Ah well, at least I still have their music to listen to. The beauty of recordings. And Four Year Strong are coming down to Singapore next year, hopefully it’s confirmed and there are no last minute cancellations. I’ll be there for sure.

What else has been happening in my life? Oh yeah, her. I had a girlfriend for a month, but things didn’t work out (Iwasn’ttherightguyforher) so we ended things before they got ugly. It was a great experience, we still talk, I still think she’s amazing, but it shall stop at there because I have a feeling that we’re gonna be the best of friends. I don’t know why, but I can just feel it. Thanks for the 6-month long rollercoaster ride that ended in a wave pool. It was one hell of a theme park, let’s not go there again. But it was all worth it. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself being the topic of future songs, I only write what I feel, and it’s bound to pop up somewhere, sometime. Thanks for everything, Jasmine. Here’s to the foundation of a great friendship.

I’m sitting in front of the computer, still clean shaven and smelling like Team Force, waiting for Hijjas to pick me up. My bags are packed and I’m ready to go. Mothers in Singapore, it’s time to hide your daughters.

  • The end of a season…

So I was in the shower today and I thought to myself “It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything on my blog.” I thought hard about what to write, and decided on another introspective piece. The last one I wrote was quite awhile ago, on the fourth of January. Apparently what I wrote made people think about their relationships. Wow. But whatever you guys gained from it, I’m glad- even though it wasn’t my intention to help you guys in the first place 😛

After thinking about what to write, I realized not a lot has happened in my life since then, but there will be some significant events happening in August. It feels like the current of my season is coming to a close (July will be the last 31 episodes of this season) and a new season starts in August.

    August.

August is coming soon. Too soon? Perhaps. I don’t know about everyone else but the past month+ and the coming month have and will be the slowest periods of my life so far this year. As most of you already know, I have handed in my resignation letter. I’m working off the remaining 3 months in the company before I can leave. I’ve had a great time working there. I’m glad I had chosen Inspidea to work at for my first job (even though it was more like them that picked me when they called me up to come in up for the interview haha). Like they say, you can’t keep a wild horse chained to a fence or a dragon in it’s cave- if it wants to leave, it leaves. And I have unfurled my imaginary wings and I am taking flight.

I’ll be missing you guys. You know who you are. I will be starting my new job in August, and I believe it will be one of the major turning points in my life.

August is coming too soon. The 8th month of this year will see the departure of one of our good friends, Alvin, to Japan. Drinking will never be the same again, and Santini will definitely close down without you. Come back soon man, we’ll be missing you. But while you’re still here, let’s make every moment count. And I mean IRL (Chatting in Skype or raiding a dungeon WoW does not and will not count!).

August can’t come soon enough. By then, one of my best friends, Seng Yip will be back from studying overseas and we’ll be working on some stuff together. Keep your eyes peeled! I smell awesome times ahead 😀 What a way to kick start the month- a trip to Phuket for booze, babes and beaches. Hopefully no unwanted babies.. or bastards will be created on the trip. HAHA.

August is .. I don’t have anything more to write here. So I went clicking through my archives for some ideas. Turns out I never wrote much in August except in 2007. I found this awesome drawing I did back then for the 10th Harry Potter book:

Yeah, I miss love. August tells me it’s three years since things ended. I think I’m ready.

The end of a season is the beginning of a new one.

  • All Filler, No Killer and Gig #45

My blog will be 3 years old in a couple of weeks. Wow.
I’m surprised I’ve kept at it for this long, even though the quality and frequency of my posts have been dropping recently, and I’ve been blaming it all on having no time to write anything.

Well I suffered another pitfall about a month ago when I deleted all my saved messages on my phone. I think I was high and pressed the wrong buttons on my phone. I was kinda upset over it. I lost a shit load of random lyrics I thought of, and topics to blog about. But a few days later I decided to be positive about it. Maybe this deletion gives me the chance to write even more and better stuff than before! And so I haven’t looked back on it since.

Last week, I was at Raelene’s blog (yes call me a stalker, or whatever you like, I don’t care- it’s not wrong to read an ex’s blog once in awhile) and she had an update saying she finally had her one way ticket out of this country and she was packing. I looked at the date, I was reading the post more than a week late. It was pretty late by then so I didn’t call her up, I decided to send her a message the next day. It wouldn’t get through. I asked Sam about it and she told me that Raelene should have already left.

I don’t know why, but I spent the whole day moping. I never got the chance to say goodbye for the last time. While she was still around. Why didn’t I pick up the phone to call her earlier? There were so many things I would have liked to say, and now I’ll never get the chance. The next time I do bump into her I would have probably forgotten it all and it wouldn’t mean anything then. Oh well.

    I digress.

Anyway, at work my boss has been encouraging us to write our goals down, share them with people and talk about them. Because the more you talk about your goals, you’ll get more people to know what they are and those people (who care) will ask you about your goals all the time. They’ll keep bugging you about them, which is some sort of crude motivation method. I.e. if you say you plan to lose weight, people will ask you ‘oh so how much weight have you lost?’ ‘you don’t look like you’ve lost weight! have you?’ etc. (and no, losing weight isn’t one of my goals haha)

So there are some goals I can share with the world, and you’re reading one of them- blorgy.net is going to be revamped. I’ll still keep my old blog posts around, archived in another folder, but the main content of my blog won’t be my writings anymore. I’m going to turn it into a comic blog. I’ve decided that instead of focusing on just writing text (I already do enough of that at work and in song writing) I will be writing and drawing my own comics. Haven’t really got a fixed idea of what my comics will be about, but they shall stay in key with the usual stuff I write about, cos it’s what people like reading anyway (all 100 of you daily lol). The art’s not going to be fantastic (yet) so it’ll be a way for me to improve my drawing as well. When this blog is 7 years old, people will look back at my first comic post and go ‘wow, this guy has come a long way’. I already have a few comics done in my notebook and I’m currently working on the model sheets for the characters (which is a pain in the ass to do). I plan to finish my site revamp sometime in April (hopefully in time to coincide with my blog’s anniversary date, what better present could one ask for?) So stay tuned! Keep pestering about it if you see me so I’ll have no choice but to work on it!

And if this works, I’ll definitely be announcing more goals from now on haha.

I finally completed the vocals for my EP this month! Wow, it’s been almost a year since I started. Boy I am glad it’s over. Now it’s onto the mixing stage. Hopefully I can get a good mix done by the end of March. All fingers crossed, I hope my mixer/producer/engineer can make me sound like magic. Haha. I’ll be heading into the studio sometime next month to give my input as well. I will need to work on the CD insert/cover as well. But that will be after the new blog is done since I already have an idea of what I will be doing, it’s just a matter of putting it all together.

And lastly, I will be playing a gig this Friday on the 26th of March at SEGi College for their International night.
It’s RM40 a ticket, and it starts at 6.30pm. There will be food, drinks and entertainment. You’re supposed to dress up, come over and have a good time. The theme is Mardi Gras after all.
Check out the FB page for more info.
