    Songs, Straws, and Celebrities

One of the most frustrating things I experience on a frequent basis is hearing a tune or song in my head and not knowing what it is. I’ll spend hours of my day trying to figure out what it is. Even in today’s connected world, it can still be a chore.

You don’t know the words to the song (or worse – the song has no lyrics) and you’re left with a barely recognizable tune which you hum out – usually in the wrong key and nobody can help you to figure it out. Soundhound can’t recognize your shitty humming, and you don’t have the words to Google.

And then sometimes you find a song that sorta sounds like what you’re looking for, which satisfies you for a bit, and then you realize that it’s not the song you were looking for. Or it turns out to be a song you didn’t like in the first place and it was stuck in your head just because.

Usually, you’ll forget about the song by the end of the day. But a few days later, another song will take its place.

From all the years I’ve been alive, one thing I’ve noticed in every fast food restaurant is that nobody ever takes exposed straw from the straw dispenser. EVER. I’m the only one who takes it.

I get that people think the exposed straw is somehow dirtier than the other straws inside the dispenser, but is that really the case? Who’s to say the straws inside aren’t just as dirty or even dirtier?

I’ve yet to get sick from using a straw. Until then, I’ll be saving myself presses and extending the lifespan of the straw dispenser.

Why do girls say it’s such a waste whenever an actor is hot and gay? It’s not like they had a chance with him in the first place.

If a hot actress is gay, guys think it’s a bonus. lnny

  • Hola, Ubuntu

    Hola, Ubuntu

So, this weekend has been pretty interesting. Here’s rundown of what happened:

I finished my online grammar course (woot), onwards to essay writing now! Week one and I can say it’s already much more challenging than the previous course.

I started Spanish for beginners, and man – I haven’t felt this dumb in a looong time.

I watched The Visit. Scared myself shitless, thanks Milin :*

I installed Ubuntu on my sister’s old laptop. It’s actually pretty cool. Haven’t used it for more than a day yet, so we’ll see if I miss anything from Windows. I doubt it though, since I can pretty much do anything in Chrome. Will report back in a week or so! I need to get a new battery for this laptop though (it’s a Dell Inspiron N4020 – any suggestions?)

I did some non-coursework work. Tomorrow’s my last day at Priority, so I want to get everything finished before I leave. Looking forward to my weeklong break and my new job!

I upgraded my vape. Finally joined the ranks of mods and rebuildable tanks. However, it’ll probably be some time before I understand what I’m doing. For now, I’m just gonna stick to atomizers I can buy.

Happy Monday everyone! I heard it’s school holidays, so traffic should be great!

  • The layers of skin we drag around

So, almost three years ago I wrote a blog post about being one month old in Priority Communications. It’s crazy how fast time flies. Now I feel like I’m writing a foreword for a CSR Newsletter…

I’m feeling all over the place. So forgive my incoherent ramblings.

It’s almost like I don’t want to leave this place… I kid. It’s time for me to move on.

It’s been a great experience working with the company. I’m thankful to Elaine and co. for taking me in. For taking a chance on me. For molding and shaping me into who I’ve been for the past almost-three-years. They took in this guy who knew next to nothing about public relations, gave me the tools, and showed me what I had to do to become a competent employee. Livan, Leroy, Melody, Rachel – thank you for the help. I know I’m not the example of a perfect employee, but trust me when I say you guys did a great job.

I’ll be taking all the lessons I learnt with me to my new job and beyond. Write softer emails! Don’t use negative words and phrases! To Mozers’ staff!

While I’m extremely eager to embark on the next chapter of my life – I leave Priority with some of the fondest memories. I’ve made plenty of friends there (yes Leroy, friends not colleagues) who I’ll keep in touch with when I’m gone.

To my team at Priority – I’m certain that I’ve left the account in good hands. You guys are more than capable of handling whatever tasks you get. I believe in all of you. Take care and keep the business running.

To everyone else in Priority – thanks for being a part of my life in the company, regardless of how big or small the role we played in each others’ lives.

Maybe I’ll see you guys at my future gigs. Or bump into you in the streets. I’m sure we’ll all cross paths again in the future.

    Till we meet again,
