Calendars dying at new year’s eve parties…this year will be better than the last.

On New Year’s Eve, someone shared with me the quote:

“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.”

which inspired me to write a post in my blog today. I doubt I’ll be keeping it up for the next 364 days, but I figured I should use my blog a lot more since I’m still paying for it.

What should I write about? First of all, I failed to complete my New Year’s resolution to play 25 shows last year. Does anyone ever complete their resolutions? I have no idea. haha. But I just thought I’d point that out. As to resolutions for this year – I haven’t thought about any.. Maybe I will in a few weeks, maybe I won’t.

Like every other year, 2013 was full of ups and downs, and everything in between. Let’s see what happened (in no particular order): I gave internet dating a shot, got into a relationship, got out of a relationship, fell in love, got my heart broken, broke a heart, progressed in my job, went to Cambodia, went to Hong Kong, played Dota 2, spent money buying Steam games, watched The International 2013, wrote a new songs, welcomed a new member into my family, gained new responsibilities, bought an ecig, broke an ecig, discovered new artists, and probably a few more things I missed out.

I made mistakes this year. Some I’m not proud of, some I regret. But life is a lesson and I’m here to learn. In any case, I think the following song encapsulates my feelings very well:

“Still I’m convinced, wondering what if is the worst thing there is…We’ll get over it, sad, strong, safe, and sober…we’ll move forward and know where we went wrong.”

Why do people feel that a new year is a good time to start doing something they’ve always wanted to do? Can’t you start doing something the very next second? Hell, even the very next day no matter what day it is? Why must it be on January the first? I have no idea. Why am I ranting? I don’t know. Either way, I shall end this post with a list:

Best artist I discovered this year: California Wives (thanks Jason), Lifeformed as runner up.
Best album of 2013: A Day To Remember – Common Courtesy, Lifeformed – Dustforce OST runner up.
Best game of 2013: Dota 2.
Best movie of 2013: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Aaand I can’t think of anything else to list here.

It’s 1 a.m. and work starts in a few hours, I should go to bed. Let’s welcome the new year with a song from one of my favorite bands of all time.
