KUALA LUMPUR, March 27, 2015 – SNS Network Sdn Bhd has announced the addition of new devices to its lineup of JOI tablets. The well-received JOI 8, an Intel-powered Windows 8.1 tablet released last year, will now be joined by the JOI 7, JOI 8i with 3G and JOI 10 Flip.

“Our first Windows tablet was a hit, which led us to design more tablets to meet the different needs of all our consumers. Today I am proud to launch our new range of JOI tablets – the JOI 7, JOI 8i with 3G, and JOI 10 Flip. For work or for play, at home or on the go – our tablets are now available in various sizes for everyone!” said Ko Yun Hung, Managing Director, SNS Network.

The JOI 7 is a variant of the JOI 8 tablet, featuring a 7” display, an Intel Atom processor, and 16GB of storage. It packs most of the same features as its predecessors in a smaller and more compact form factor.

The JOI 8i with 3G is an updated version of the original JOI 8, featuring a Micro HDMI port and 3G connectivity for internet access on the go.

The JOI 10 Flip is an updated version of the JOI 10 Flip released late last year. It features an updated Intel Atom processor and support for the JOI Docking Station. The JOI Docking Station is a charging station which gives the tablet 4 additional USB ports, a full-sized HDMI port and a LAN port. It also has a Kensington Security Slot if you ever feel the need to keep the JOI 10 Flip chained to your desk.

Intel-powered HPCs propel SGI to success

SGI’s Intel-powered HPCs sold to Down Under Geo to aid in gains in the rate of discovery and analysis for oil and gas exploration

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, May 5, 2015 – SGI has recently come off a win with Down Under Geo (DUG), providing a SGI® Pyramid 2U Phi Cluster to DUG to aid in their oil and gas exploration.

In their latest collaboration, Intel, SGI and DUG worked together to deploy a customized SGI Rackable High Performance Computing (HPC) environment which included 3,800 Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors making it one of the largest commercial deployments of Xeon Phi coprocessors. This deployment provides DUG with an added compute capacity of up to six peak petaflops.

The custom solution helps significantly accelerates DUG’s turnaround times for processing seismic data, in turn benefitting DUG customers by assisting to bring oil and gas projects on-line earlier, potentially saving them millions of dollars.

SGI started using Intel processors in 2001 when it put together the Workstation which ran on the Intel® Itanium® chipset. The company then went on to create the world’s most scalable Linux-based computer in 2003, which supported up to 64 processors in a single system node. Today, with the latest Intel® Xeon® Processor technology, SGI’s new generation advanced Symmetric Multi-Processing (SMP) system, UV 2000, scales up to 4,096 Cores threads and 64TB of shared memory as a single system.

SNS Network’s has today introduced the JOI 7 Lite tablet and JOI Phone 5 smartphone, both based on the Intel® Atom™ x3 processor series. Both the JOI 7 Lite tablet and JOI Phone 5 smartphone are powered by the Intel Atom x3-C3130, runs on Android 4.4 and comes with 8GB of storage expandable up to 32GB. SNS Network had earlier this year announced the addition of other devices to its lineup of JOI tablets including the JOI 7, JOI 8i with 3G and JOI 10 Flip.
