  • He’s not quite as charming as he may seem, come and claim your queen!

    I’ve been listening to Alesana ever since an ex-colleague introduced them to me back in 2007, and recently I’ve been spinning their newer stuff on my playlist. One thing that amazes me is that despite a few lineup changes, they’ve stuck to and continue to play music in the same vein as their original stuff. They’re probably the epitome of ‘don’t fix it if it isn’t broken’ in the post-hardcore scene.

  • Each drag’s a drop of blood, a grain, a minute of my life

    Today I want to write about one of the most influential bands to me. The Used. There’s not much to say about these guys, just four dudes who wrote and played rad music. I got to know about them thanks to a friend introducing to me to ‘The Taste of Ink’ and ‘Buried Myself Alive’. I was hooked from the start. I listened to them nonstop. ‘Buried Myself Alive’ became one of my favorite songs of all time. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped the track before whenever it came on my playlist. Listening to The Used’s earlier stuff brings me back in time. Back to college, when life was careless and free.

  • I Was An Island

    Allison Weiss is amazing. I first discovered her when I was browsing AbsolutePunk.net when they announced that she had a new album up for streaming. Since I had never heard of her before, I decided to check the album out (AP.net are one of my favorite sites when it comes to music recommendations). I hit play on the first track and was floored. It was so good.
